Investments

What is an investment?

An investment is an asset purchased with the goal that it will provide an income or will be sold for a profit in the future. Follow the steps below to find out more...

Step 1

Setting your investment goals

The first step is to decide on your goals. That is, what you want your money to provide for you and when.

Examples:

  • I would like £20,000 for a cruise in 5 years time.

  • I need £30,000 for my daughter in case she goes to university in 12 years time.

Our independent advisers will help you achieve your goals by recommending the best investment solutions.

Step 4

Recommending a portfolio

Recommend an investment
Recommend a portfolio

We will recommend products that are appropriate for your circumstances, are competitive in terms of charges and are as tax-efficient as possible.

We consider charges, financial strength and service standards when selecting a company or companies to provide your portfolio.

It is impossible to predict the market exactly and that's why we'll never advise you to invest in one company. Instead, we invest in multiple funds, asset classes, industries & markets. This is known as diversification and minimises the risk.

Step 5

Choosing the right provider

Having selected the required risk and product, we now need to select a company who provides the product and investments recommended.

We consider a number of things including; charges, financial strength and service standards when selecting a company or companies to provide your portfolio.

Step 6

Our service

Once your investments are set up, they need to be looked after.

You will be able to login and see them as often as you like by clicking the My Portfolio Login above.

We will keep an eye on your investments, send you reports and come to see you periodically to go through them with you. This is a good chance for us to make sure your details are up to date too, and to ensure all investments fit your ongoing circumstances.

Our 0.6% annual ongoing adviser fee covers the cost of this service.
